2025 Heritage 7-mile Road Race
COMPETE IN THIS HISTORIC EVENT !
This year’s road race will return to its traditional format and distance. It will take place on Sunday 13th July at 11:00 a.m. and is open to people age 18 and over. Wenlock Olympian Society gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in all age categories.
The event takes place on the Gaskell Field, Much Wenlock, Shropshire, TF13 6NB – adjacent to the Leisure Centre. The race route is towards Benthall and Broseley on roads through the Shropshire countryside.
William Penny Brookes, a local doctor who lived in Much Wenlock, recognising the importance of physical education, started the Games in 1850.
The Games are considered to be the inspiration that led Pierre de Coubertin to establish the International Olympic Committee, which held the first Olympic Games in Athens in 1896. This is your chance to be part of our history!
Age group categories for medals are Senior, V40, V 50, V60, V70+ for both Men and Women. The minimum age on event date is 18.
The 2025 Wenlock Olympian Games Road Race has reverted to the original 7-mile event – an extra challenge for 10k runners! The event is licensed by Run Britain in accordance with UKA rules.
The race starts at 11 am with registration on the Gaskell Field. Please allow plenty of time to register and get your number. Toilets are available at the Leisure Centre.
Please note
