WENLOCK OLYMPIAN SOCIETY

This competition took place on Saturday 11th July on the Netball Courts of William Brookes School, Much Wenlock

The competition was in the form of a round-robin followed by a knockout.  Teams of U11, U14, U16 and U19 played in very warm conditions. 

Despite the hot conditions all three tournaments ran smoothly and on time. Playing time was reduced and half times and times between games increased to allow girls to get enough hydration and reapply sun cream . Extra gazebos were provided by club and parents to ensure there was plenty of shade for the players at half time and between games.

Many thanks to Helen Cromarty for attending both sets of presentations which took place in the outdoor amphitheatre at 12.30 and 3.50pm . As always her presence as Chair of the society gives the occasion real kudos and she is very gracious and generous in her praise to all the participants.

In total 17 teams took part from 4 different clubs … all requesting to take part again next year, with apologies from 2 clubs who wanted to enter but had no coaches available to bring teams on this date.  There were 163 participants ranging from 8 to 18 years of age (including 2 boys in the U11 section).

WLNC paid for all the wine and chocolates etc for the people who help run results, umpire and team manage on the day (as coaches are umpiring throughout the day), we are very grateful for the parental support and therefore the club is happy to cover these costs.
